Job Summary

The Equipment Operator / Screen Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining screening equipment and heavy machinery to process, separate, and manage materials in a safe and efficient manner. This role supports daily plant or site operations by ensuring proper material flow, quality control, and adherence to environmental and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate screening equipment to separate materials based on size and type (e.g., soil, compost, aggregates, or waste streams) Load materials into screens using heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, or excavators Monitor material flow and adjust equipment settings to optimize production and reduce contamination Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on screening equipment and machinery Remove debris and contaminants to ensure product quality meets operational standards Maintain accurate production logs and report equipment issues or downtime to supervisors Follow all OSHA, DOT (if applicable), and company safety policies and procedures Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards Assist with general labor duties as needed to support site operations

Qualifications

Previous experience operating heavy equipment (loader, skid steer, excavator, or similar) Experience with screening equipment or material processing preferred (compost, aggregates, recycling, or waste) Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, and perform physically demanding tasks Basic understanding of safety regulations and operational procedures

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in environmental services, recycling, or construction material processing Forklift certification or other equipment certifications Knowledge of material separation processes and contamination control
