ER Registered Nurse Job Details – Richmond, VA

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Richmond, VA 23298 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Adult Emergency Room, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12-hour days: 07:00-19:00 and nights: 19:00-07:00), rotating every 2-6 weeks
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910–$1960 per week
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 64 beds, 60-80 daily census, 1000 visits per day
• Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend

ER Nurse Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of recent ER nursing experience, including Level 1 Trauma Center experience
• Previous travel nursing or locum tenens experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (or eligibility for 30-day work authorization)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, TNCC (required for emergency room nurse jobs)
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float within scope as needed
• Fingerprinting required prior to start (per Virginia code 37.1-183.3)
• 2 professional references required

ER Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population in a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Perform advanced clinical skills: arterial line management, burn care, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, CPAP/BiPAP, IV vasopressors, ventilator management
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, perform procedural sedation, and initiate psychiatric holds as needed
• Participate in triage, stroke care, and trauma response
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation using EPIC (preferred)
• Adapt to a rapid turnover environment with strong critical thinking and escalation of care skills
