Veterinary Inventory Manager
Full-time: 8am-4pm, with flexibility for quarterly inventory counts.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $22 - $25/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Pet Specialists of Austin (PSA) is looking for an Inventory Manager to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
The Inventory Manager should be knowledgeable in a wide variety of areas including communication, pharmacology, budgeting, among others. They will also be responsible for maintaining pricing structure and being the primary contact for inventory, purchasing, and procurement of supplies in accordance with hospital /company policy. They are expected to uphold the hospital's core values while maintaining professional composure.
They will support the team in the successful day-to-day operation of PSA by maintaining supplies, medications, and general inventory. They are expected to work with, or under, the supervision of the Hospital Administrator. They must be an independent worker who values being part of a team. Required to manage basic facilities maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain pharmaceuticals and hospital supplies within budget using dashboard tools
- Track inventory turnover via Vetcove and practice management system (PMS)
- Implement controls to minimize shrinkage and optimize inventory quantity
- Set drug and supply reorder points based on forecasting and leadership input
- Monitor product availability, regulatory changes, and manage the Backorder List
- Ensure compliance with controlled substance protocols
- Receive and log controlled substances upon arrival
- Perform biweekly Cubex audits and maintain cycle counting system
- Dispose of expired inventory within 14 days via appropriate procedures
- Train staff on inventory systems including Cubex and PMS usage
- Create purchase orders using reports, hand counts, and want lists
- Review and submit vendor programs for approval
- Contact vendors to resolve incorrect or damaged deliveries within 72 hours
- Respond promptly and professionally to communications
- Maintain positive vendor relationships
- Support team members by ensuring access to needed inventory
- Attend monthly inventory meetings and staff meetings
- Uphold core values and foster a supportive work environment
- Physically receive inventory and stock items correctly
- Verify packing slips, log items into PMS, and process via Vetcove
- Submit completed packing slips weekly
- Lead quarterly inventory counts and ensure timely supply orders
- Maintain Facilities Log and escalate facility concerns when necessary
Key Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience in veterinary medicine preferred.
- 2+ years' experience in inventory management preferred.
- Strong medical, veterinary pharmacology, and veterinary nursing knowledge preferred.
- Competent with software skills including Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility in schedule. Schedule may change due to hospital needs or to complete inventory counts. Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday are required. Dependable attendance is required.
- Overtime may be required.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
- This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum of 8-hour days.
- Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.
- Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.
- Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing office equipment and hospital equipment
