The Opportunity:
A Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness of the property including guest rooms, public areas, Back of House, exterior public space, and linens for both Hotel San Jose and Austin Motel. Housekeepers will follow the policies, standards and guidelines established by Bunkhouse, the Department of Health, and any other applicable government agencies.
The person in this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of company policies, procedures and expectations.
A Housekeeper must develop and maintain the company's culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all team members, guests, vendors and partners.
Who We Are:
Hotel San José is a 40-room urban bungalow-style hotel tucked behind stucco walls and set amidst lush garden courtyards on South Congress. Now a gathering place and hub of community activity for locals and visitors alike, our legacy began long before now, in the 1930s, when the San José was a vibrant motor court on South Congress Avenue. But as Austin changed, the motel fell into disrepair. Thankfully, in 1994, the keen eye of Liz Lambert saw something more than low-rent lodging while spending time across the street at the Continental Club. After a long road, the way was found to our modern iteration of a hidden oasis right in the heart of South Congress.
The historic Austin Motel sits just south of the Colorado River and Downtown, in view of the State Capitol and walking distance to the famous bat bridge. Part of the beloved South Congress neighborhood, the motel is surrounded by some of the city's most interesting dining, nightlife and shopping, with easy access to bus lines and Austin's lovely hike and bike trail that connects to Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool and the Barton Creek greenbelt.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for completing an in-room checklist for each room you are assigned
• Notify Housekeeping Supervisor and/or immediate supervisor about any guest rooms that need to be placed out of order for maintenance concerns
• Responsible for cleaning of guest rooms, public spaces, exteriors and Back of House daily
• Continually maintain inventory of linens, cleaning supplies and guest amenities to ensure adequate supplies in accordance with established par levels and timeframe
• Maintain the storage rooms with at least one (1) par clean at all times
• Report and correct any deficiencies noted in guest rooms or public areas to the appropriate individuals
• Assist in the timely completion of all projects including mattress rotation, window washing, deep cleanings, etc.
• Assist in implementation of special projects
• Maintain a positive relationship with employees and guests
• Maintain constant communication between all departments (i.e. room status)
• Promote and encourage guest name recognition at all times
• Possess knowledge of all guest services and amenities
• Ensure all calls are answered in a courteous, professional and efficient manner
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
• Keep abreast of safety and OSHA requirements
• Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures
• Attend all relevant meetings
• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and oral instructions
Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday availability.
• High school education preferred
• One (1) year related experience in hospitality or service industry
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests
