About the Job

Systel needs to hire a compliance specialist to play a critical role in driving growth by enhancing Systel’s capability to consistently meet customer requirements such as purchase order terms and conditions, FAR/DFAR requirements, product specifications, and customer specific requirements. This position will work closely with many other departments including quality, sales, engineering, purchasing, and finance. We are looking for someone with both the ability to understand the big business picture and to pay close attention to details.

This role will report to the Quality Manager at Systel. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX.

Who You Are
You are a detail‑driven problem solver who thrives at the intersection of precision, process, and collaboration. You understand how compliance, quality, and customer requirements connect to the larger business picture—and you enjoy being the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. You’re comfortable interpreting regulations, technical documents, and purchase order terms, and you know how to translate them into clear actions and guidance for others. You build strong cross‑functional relationships and communicate with confidence, whether you’re working with engineers, hosting auditors, or supporting customer needs. You take ownership of your work, stay organized under pressure, and proactively seek ways to improve processes. Most importantly, you embody Systel’s core values: delivering fanatical customer service, demonstrating absolute ownership, continually pushing for improvement, and operating with uncompromising integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Take the lead in responding to customer request for compliance documentation, including updating compliance documentation on customer websites, such as conflict mineral documentation
  • Play a lead role in hosting customers during on-site customer audits and providing objective evidence to demonstrate compliance to customer requirements
  • Play a critical support role in hosting AS9100 auditors and providing objective evidence to demonstrate compliance to AS9100 standards
  • Manage FAR/DFAR compliance matrix, adding new government regulations and maintaining how Systel is compliant to them
  • Review terms and conditions on new customer purchase orders and flag areas of concern for management to review
  • Work with management to develop methods of meeting new requirements and regulations
  • When needed, create and manage requests to engineering for them to verify design specific requirements such as RoHS and REACH.
  • Prepare source inspection documentation prior to source inspectors coming on-site
  • Prepare AS9102 first article documentation for new products that require it
  • Play a key role in our internal audit process, including performing internal audits as necessary (as determined by the quality manager)
  • Stay up to date on export compliance requirements and provide guidance to shipping department on how to make sure our processes meet those requirements
Education and Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Legal, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in contract review, legal work, or product inspection
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • 5+ years of quality compliance experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Highly competitive and self-motivated with the ability to “make it happen”.
  • Time management, decision-making, and organizational skills capable of handling a demanding workload yet meeting positional and company objectives under pressure.
