DevOps Engineer

Careerscape is hiring a DevOps Engineer on behalf of our client, a software technology company headquartered in Austin, Texas. This role is responsible for maintaining and scaling the cloud infrastructure that supports the company's SaaS products and internal engineering systems. You will work alongside development and security teams to reduce deployment friction and keep production environments stable and observable.

Day-to-day work includes managing CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, and overseeing containerized workloads running on Kubernetes in AWS. The team places a strong emphasis on reliability engineering, incident response, and continuous improvement of deployment workflows. You will have direct influence over tooling decisions and infrastructure architecture within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Austin. The company is scaling rapidly and expects this hire to take ownership of core infrastructure initiatives from day one. Candidates with a background in platform engineering or site reliability engineering are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and Ansible
• Monitor production systems and lead incident response to maintain uptime and performance targets
• Manage Docker containerization and Kubernetes cluster operations across environments
• Partner with software engineers to improve build, test, and release processes
• Harden infrastructure to meet security and compliance requirements
• Maintain runbooks, architecture documentation, and deployment procedures
• Evaluate and introduce new DevOps tooling to improve team efficiency

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering
• Hands-on proficiency with AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, and Lambda
• Demonstrated experience with Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tooling
• Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in production
• Strong working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes in a production context
• Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or Go
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
