Floor Technician

As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our buildings are well-maintained and ready for daily operations and special events. This position offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive environment for staff and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to safety specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
• Notify supervisors of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Request supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety practices preferred.
• Ability to use various power and hand tools efficiently.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptability to changing tasks and priorities.
• Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, walk long distances, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity and vision abilities including close, distance, and depth perception.
