Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A contracted teaching opportunity is available to provide specialized services for students with visual impairments at the middle and high school levels. This position spans from August through the end of November, with potential for extension to a full-year role based on caseload needs.

Located in New Braunfels, TX, the assignment requires approximately 24 hours per week, delivering between three days of service. The caseload features a diverse group of students, including general education and medically fragile individuals, all with varying degrees of visual impairment. Many students are braille users, requiring specialized instructional materials and support.

Responsibilities:

• Providing direct and consultative vision services, including in-class support
• Conducting evaluations for students on the caseload and assisting with district evaluations as needed
• Documenting services accurately and efficiently using SuccessEd for ARD paperwork and TASB for service notes
• Collaborating with related service providers and braille transcribers to ensure appropriate delivery of materials and equipment
• Developing and preparing specialized instructional materials aligned with student needs

Qualifications:

• Valid Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) certification
• Experience working with students across various visual impairments, including medically fragile populations
• Familiarity with SuccessEd and TASB platforms for paperwork and documentation
• Knowledge of braille instruction and ability to collaborate with braille transcribers
