The NR Control Platform team at New Relic is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team. We seek someone who is passionate about delivering software solutions built using java and also using Rust in a multi cloud environment which is designed to be secure modular and fault-tolerant.

The role involves joining a highly engaged remote team on a tier 1 mission critical product. Youll be completing work assignments collaboratively with focusing on performance security global expansion regional resilience reliability scalability and cost efficiency.

We encourage asynchronous communication and independence but highly value knowing what is more appropriate for synchronous communications and striking a balance between the two. We value building strong human relationships between team members during our ceremonies and value in person meet ups when possible.

What youll do

• Write high-quality code that adheres to security reliability and performance standards.
• Build maintain and scale backend services and their support tools while adhering to service level agreements (SLAs) and technical constraints.
• Consistently follow New Relics Engineering Standards applying best practices and guidelines to maintain a high standard of technical excellence across all tasks
• Deliver high quality production code that helps drive our roadmap forward.
• Consistently collaborate with the team on the execution of tasks and user stories.
• Understand the services the team owns and be able to build deploy and rollback services.
• Join the teams on-call rotation driving mitigation impact assessment incident recovery and long help identifying and implementing long term prevention.

This role requires

• 6 years of hands-on professional experience with distributed systems concurrency and scaling in a production environment.
• Strong experience in backend Java
• Ability to learn adapt and collaborate with various programming languages (Rust Go Javascript)
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques tools and methodologies.
• Having a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership. Be open to work collaboratively across geo locations (India Spain).
• Thrives in a remote team setting using strong written and oral collaboration skills using tools such as Slack and Zoom.
• Experience in designing and developing distributed systems / solutions
• A desire to continuously learn new technologies and work across a range of DevOps tools.

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with Kafka Kubernetes Observability platform Redis
• Exposure to CI/CD/DevOps Terraform Docker and monitoring technologies.
• Experience or familiarity with Rust programming language

The pay range below represents a reasonable estimate of the salary for the listed position. This role is eligible for a corporate bonus plan. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicants skills qualifications and experience.

$152000 - $190000 USD
