Under direct supervision, performs routine clerical duties to include answering phones, typing information into the computer, and filing.

Examples of Duties
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, etc.
  • Proofreads for accuracy, completeness and format.
  • Enters registration forms on the computer.
  • Files records and reports in numerical and/or alphabetical order.
  • Provides general receptionist duties, handling all incoming calls, forwarding to proper department and recording messages.
  • Inputs and retrieves data in automated system.
  • Assists the general public in directional and procedural inquiries.
  • Files complaints and completed paperwork.
  • Operates various types of office equipment.
  • Informs supervisor of all work activities.
  • Record keeping.
  • Clean animal kennels and shelter.
  • General care of animals, such as walking, feeding, and grooming.
  • Perform adoption interviews and adoption follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with rescue groups.
  • Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in general office work is preferred.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history). Desired Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Must have a general working knowledge of computer operations (data entry) and general office procedures.
  • Must have excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Bilingual communicative skills are preferred.
  • Must be skilled in the operation of personal computer operations to include Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must type 30 net words per minute.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to type; understand and carry out oral and written directives; work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; prioritize and organize work assignments.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • To perform essential functions of the job, work in adverse environmental conditions to include fumes; dust/mist, noxious odors, chemical, solid waste substances, animal feces, urine, saliva, and the sight of blood; see, talk, hear, read, write; kneel, sit, squat, bend, stand, stoop.
  • May be required to move various boxed documents weighing up to 52 pounds with the use of a dolly for assistance.
