The Tax Analyst-Audit Focused, supports indirect tax audits by preparing and reviewing audit documentation and internal reports, assists with indirect tax compliance activities as needed, analyzes statutory fiscal accounts within established deadlines to ensure accuracy and audit readiness, and trains new members of the Tax team.
    • Support state and local indirect tax audits, including preparing and providing data for sample selection, reconciling taxes remitted, assisting with sample evaluations, retrieving and reviewing documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and reviewing audit workpapers.
    • Assist with indirect tax compliance activities as needed, including occasional preparation and filing of returns.
    • Perform balance sheet account analysis for various state and local tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper support.
    • Monitor changes in state and local tax laws and evaluate their impact on the organization.
    • Provide guidance to field personnel on tax-related issues and deliver training on state and local tax matters.
    • Review and provide input on changes in business practices to assess tax implications.
    • Support internal teams and Tax Department personnel on various initiatives and cross-functional needs.
    • Assist the Tax Manager with special projects and ongoing management of the indirect tax function.
    • Participate in training and development activities to enhance technical knowledge and effectiveness in the role.

Job Description

Overall Job Description:

Assist the Tax Manager with the management of the Schlumberger Indirect Tax Function. Responsibilities of this position include indirect tax audit & some indirect tax compliance.

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Independently manage state & local audits which includes providing computerized data for sample selections, reconciliation of taxes remitted, sample evaluation, retrieving and reviewing documents, responding to auditor's questions, review and respond to audit work papers.


  1. Provide guidance to field personnel on tax-related issues. Attend internal meetings to present training on state and local tax matters.


  1. Attend training/development courses as required by Schlumberger policies and enhance knowledge in all tax areas affecting responsibilities.


  1. Review and monitor changes in state tax laws and their effect on Schlumberger.


  1. Balance sheet account analysis responsibilities for various state and local tax accounts.


  1. Review and provide guidance relative to changes in business practices affecting tax.


  1. Assist other Tax Department personnel in all areas as needed, including occasional return filings.


  1. Assist the HUB Tax Manager with special products as needed.
Education Requirements:

B.S. in Accounting or Finance

Experience Requirements:

Former audit experience with a taxing authority a plus/

US Indirect tax plus 3 years of sales & use tax audit management/litigation experience.
