Requisition ID: 77230 Position Overview As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a senior technical leader shaping the architecture and direction of our software ecosystem. Your work will focus on designing and delivering robust desktop applications, scalable frameworks, and high performance APIs used to interact with our devices under test (DUT). You will collaborate closely with engineering leaders, product teams, and validation groups to define system level architectures that ensure reliability, extensibility, and long term maintainability across our software tools. In this role, you will drive the development of next generation application frameworks, establish best practices for UI/UX and code quality, and architect APIs that streamline communication with our products. You will also lead efforts to modernize existing tools, improve performance and usability, and align our software platforms with the evolving needs of new product introductions (NPI). As a principal level contributor, you will mentor engineers, provide architectural oversight, influence technical strategy, and ensure that our desktop applications and DUT interaction layers meet the highest standards of efficiency, scalability, and user experience. Responsibilities- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of desktop applications and supporting frameworks used across validation, characterization, and customer-facing tools.
- Architect and maintain high‑performance APIs and communication layers that interact reliably with DUTs, lab equipment, and automation systems.
- Drive modernization and long‑term evolution of existing software platforms, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with product roadmaps and NPIs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and junior engineers, guiding best practices in design, coding standards, and architectural decision‑making.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including firmware, hardware, validation, and product lines—to define system requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex system‑level issues spanning software, firmware, and hardware interfaces, ensuring robust and predictable behavior across DUT communication layers.
- Champion improvements in development workflows, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, and overall software quality to increase team efficiency and product reliability.
- MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical and Computer Engineering with 8+ years of industry experience, or BS in the same fields with 12+ years of experience.
- 10+ years of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) experience with strong proficiency in software design patterns and adherence to SOLID principles.
- 6+ years of experience with the C#, .NET Framework, including technologies such as WPF, WCF, and Entity Framework.
- Proven experience architecting API layers consumed by desktop applications, automation frameworks, and other client components.
- Demonstrated expertise designing and developing desktop applications, including UI frameworks and multi‑tiered architectures.
- Hands-on experience working with MCU firmware and a solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals. Ability to read schematics and perform hardware‑level debugging when interacting with DUTs.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $129,400 - $247,800 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
