Control Systems Engineer
MISSION
This role ensures the safe, secure, and high-performance operation of Air Liquide’s core industrial sites through hands-on programming, system reliability, and technical integrity. The Control Systems Engineer is the programming backbone of the team—executing system design, supporting startups, and locking down controls environments with precision and care.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Develop and Maintain Control System Code
Write, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/DCS/SCADA code for control systems. The role emphasizes clean, accurate programming—this is not a paper manager role. Your work directly supports plant performance, safety, and cybersecurity.
Provide Operational and Maintenance Support
Deliver 24/7 operational support as part of a rotating team schedule, ensuring system uptime, responding to control faults, and tracking/troubleshooting assets with urgency and precision. Comp time is provided for off-hours work.
Support Capital Project Startups
Travel to new or upgraded sites 4–6 weeks per year, primarily during spring and fall commissioning windows. Serve as a key contributor during site startup phases—typically supporting 2–3 month schedules distributed across the team.
Lock Down and Secure Control Systems
Own and improve security measures such as network access, hardware control locks, firmware upgrades, and cybersecurity hardening. Ensure systems are resilient, secure, and auditable.
Collaborate Across Electrical Operations
Work from Air Liquide’s Dallas flagship facility which houses all three major electrical disciplines. Join a high-performing team of three engineers with tight-knit collaboration and deep ownership across hardware, systems, and cyber layers.
Troubleshoot and Solve in Real-Time
Field technical issues directly—from network protocol breakdowns to system slowdowns. Use your knowledge of communication protocols, signals, and system behavior to keep operations running at full tempo.
FIT TRAITS
Detail-obsessed coder with zero tolerance for sloppy work
Hands-on system thinker with fast, structured troubleshooting skills
Calm under pressure and confident in high-stakes operations
Respectful of cybersecurity protocols and mission-critical environments
Veteran-aligned mindset—accountable, collaborative, decisive
