Summary

Create a Prepared Environment:

• A Montessori guide designs and maintains a classroom that is organized, engaging, and equipped with age-appropriate materials.

Observe and Assess:

• They carefully observe each child's progress, noting their individual learning styles, interests, and areas for growth.

Present Materials:

• Guides introduce materials and activities to the children, demonstrating their proper use and encouraging exploration.

Guide Learning:

• They facilitate learning by providing guidance, encouragement, and support, allowing children to learn at their own pace and pursue their interests.

Foster Independence:

• A Montessori guide helps children develop independence, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility.

Build Community:

• They foster a respectful and inclusive classroom culture where each child feels valued and supported.

Communicate with Parents:

• Montessori guides regularly communicate with parents about their child's progress and development.

Uphold Montessori Principles:

• They adhere to the Montessori philosophy and principles, ensuring a consistent and enriching learning experience.

Adapt to Diverse Needs:

• Guides are flexible and adapt their approach to accommodate various learning styles and individual needs.

Collaborate and Reflect:

• They work collaboratively with other staff members and reflect on their own practice to continuously improve their teaching.

Duties

• Classroom Management:
• Creating and maintaining a prepared environment with age-appropriate materials.
• Establishing classroom guidelines and procedures that encourage freedom of movement and choice.
• Ensuring the classroom is clean, organized, and stimulating.
• Curriculum and Instruction:
• Developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with Montessori principles.
• Guiding children in individual and group activities, fostering independence and self-directed learning.
• Observing and assessing each child's progress and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
• Providing diagnostic lessons and assessments in core areas like math, literacy, and writing.
• Student Development:
• Fostering a love for learning and encouraging children's natural curiosity.
• Guiding children in developing problem-solving skills, self-discipline, and social skills.
• Promoting a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborating with other teachers and staff to enhance the program.
• Communicating regularly with families about their child's progress and development.
• Participating in parent-teacher conferences and school activities.
• Professional Development:
• Continuously learning and staying current with best practices in Montessori education.
• Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
• Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintaining accurate records of student progress and development.
• Preparing and maintaining Montessori materials and equipment.
• Assisting with the training of new teachers.

Requirements

High school diploma or higher education
Montessori certification and/or Montessori training
