Leads the day-to-day activities of the Quality Inspection team, tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process, and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. Acts as the primary link between the Quality Inspectors and the Quality Manager, ensuring the inspection team executes the Quality Management System consistently and that production remains consistent with established standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to the following as other duties may be assigned.
• Leads and coordinates the daily activities of the Quality Inspection team, assigning inspection workload and monitoring completion throughout the production cycle.
• Provides hands-on inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle, including first article, in-process, and final inspection.
• Trains, mentors, and evaluates the technical performance of Quality Inspectors, ensuring consistent application of inspection criteria and procedures.
• Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
• Serves as the first point of escalation on the production floor for inspection questions, nonconforming material, and disposition decisions, escalating to the Quality Supervisor as needed.
• Works with vendors to help ensure the quality of all purchased parts for company use.
• Monitors and communicates aspects of inspection criteria and procedures to production, and confirms inspectors are applying them correctly.
• Conducts and leads audits on production processes and procedures.
• Leads the Daily Quality Walk-Thru to monitor efficiency and consistency of QMS procedures across shifts.
• Helps enforce statutory and regulatory requirements along with all applicable standards.
• Investigates customer complaints and supports RCCA activity when a CAR/SCAR has been initiated, under the direction of the Quality Supervisor.
• Assists the Quality Supervisor in maintaining the calibration log and verifying that all inspection tools and aids are under current calibration.
• Maintains positive teamwork and morale within the department.
• Represents Techniform professionally with all vendors, customers, subordinates, co-workers, and superiors.
• Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
• Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
• Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
• Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards, and recommends corrective action to the Quality Manager.
• Covers and backs up the Quality Supervisor on routine quality matters in their short-term absence.
