ERCOT Market Specialist

Salary Grade: G07 Minimum Midpoint Maximum $66,267 - $87,804 - $109,340

SUMMARY: Acts as a representative of Texas New Mexico Power Co. at ERCOT in the Texas de-regulated electric industry. Participates in all ERCOT retail market groups to better understand changing market rules, processes and procedures and ensures TNMP is in compliance. Provides root cause analysis and resolution for EDI problems and issues. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Attends ERCOT Market meetings and acts as a representative for TNMP at RMS, Texas SET, PWG, TDTWG, MarkeTrak Task Force and other assigned market groups and committees and provides relevant data back to TNMP management Ensures TNMP meets all requirements and conditions of load profiling, as well as administers profiling assignment to ensure accuracy of the ERCOT settlement process Acts as the functional expert on EDI to document, test and implement all Texas SET updates and changes for internal business processing Monitors Market Sync Report to assist and research for resolution of incomplete or missing EDI transactions between TNMP and other market participants and analysis of format and/or data errors Acts as a liaison with BTS to document, test and implement any necessary system changes Monitors extreme weather conditions and issues weather moratoriums for TNMP when conditions and criteria meet those defined in PUC guidelines Provides PUCT quarterly Retail Performance Measures to the regulatory department COMPETENCIES: In-depth knowledge of ERCOT Retail Market Guide, ERCOT load profile requirements, ERCOT annual validation requirements, and ERCOT transaction protocols In-depth knowledge of TNMP EDI policies, procedures and billing processes Working knowledge of TEXAS SET rules and guidelines Working knowledge of database structures and database query tools Working knowledge of Marketrak system and procedures and protocols Ability to effectively handle concurrent assignments Ability to make sound decisions that support the Company's goals and missions as they pertain to market requirements QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to communicate professionally and accurately with all market participants Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardaztion exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to interprete complex information and data to identify potential and develop comprehensive plans. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to periodically work weekends and evenings. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office enviroment. Frequent travel required.
