Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year in the related nursing specialty License: RN License in Texas or compact Certifications: - Current BLS certification required - Current ACLS certification required - Current NRP certification required - Current certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the specified AWHONN courses Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: One open position available. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to work towards long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice. Uses appropriate protocol to administer medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and department-specific competency validation. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a perinatal setting is preferred. Work schedule is from 7 AM to 7 PM. This position is full-time.
