UPS Technician III (Travel)

As a key member of the field service team, you will perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance on a variety of UPS systems. Responsibilities

• Perform startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance on UPS and battery systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, start up, and commission all types of UPS systems, including replacements and new installations.
• Diagnose and resolve routine and emergency issues with minimal disruption to customers.
• Lead projects with multiple crew members, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.
• Communicate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers.
• Assess manpower requirements and estimate materials and consumables needed for project completion.
• Promote a positive team environment, demonstrating leadership, good judgment, and a commitment to safety.
• Train and mentor less experienced technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
• Electrical and mechanical experience with UPS systems, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson).
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
• Experience using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
• Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE.
• Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
• Ability to interpret torque values, apply torque marks, and visually inspect completed installations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to travel as required for project assignments.
• US Citizenship required.
