Civil Engineer – Land Development (Single-Family)

Position Overview

We are seeking an Entry to Mid-Level Civil Engineer with consulting firm experience in land development to support the design and delivery of single-family development projects. This role will focus on site design, permitting, and coordination with public agencies and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience preparing civil construction documents within a consulting environment and understands the full project lifecycle from due diligence through construction support.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare civil engineering plans for single-family land development projects, including:

  • Grading and drainage plans

  • Stormwater management systems

  • Utility design (water, sewer, storm drain)

  • Roadway and access design

• Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations

• Develop stormwater management reports and drainage studies

• Coordinate with municipalities and regulatory agencies for permitting and approvals

• Respond to plan review comments and revise plans accordingly

• Assist with feasibility studies and due diligence evaluations

• Support project managers with cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and scheduling

• Coordinate with surveyors, environmental consultants, geotechnical engineers, and other disciplines

• Provide limited construction phase support (RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits as needed)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

• 2–6 years of experience in land development within a consulting firm

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D

• Experience preparing grading, drainage, and utility plans

• Understanding of local zoning and permitting processes

• Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT certification or on track to obtain

• Experience with stormwater modeling software (HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.)

• Experience working on single-family or small-scale site development projects

• Familiarity with municipal design standards and subdivision regulations
