Job Summary
The Mentoring Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, enrollment, and engagement of mentors and youth within the program. This role ensures the successful matching of mentors and mentees, facilitates training and onboarding, and monitors participant progress to promote positive outcomes. The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for participants, families, volunteers, and community partners, fostering strong relationships and supporting program growth. Additionally, the position involves community outreach, event coordination, data collection, and reporting to ensure program quality, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience in youth development, culturally responsive mentoring, and collaborative community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
Committed to the success of the program; Two years relevant work experience working with at-risk populations required; Experience with specific assessment, intake or interview experience required; Experience leading and coordinating event and activities preferred; Computer capability with Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint; Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
The Mentoring Services Coordinator should hold a bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, education, psychology, or a related field, though candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience working with youth, volunteers, or community-based programs may be considered in lieu of formal education. Coursework or training in youth development, mentoring, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, or positive youth development is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Maintain professional, welcoming, and supportive interactions with participants, referring agencies, volunteers, and corporate partners.
- Oversee mentor and youth enrollment, including assessments of skills, interests, strengths, and supportive service needs.
- Manage mentor/mentee matching to ensure compatibility and successful mentoring relationships.
- Assess volunteer training needs to ensure readiness to serve at-risk youth populations effectively.
- Conduct mentee onboarding, orientations, and Protective Factors Pre- and Post-Assessments to track outcomes and growth.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials and supporting workshops, community events, and outreach activities.
- Coordinate and actively participate in group activities, fostering meaningful engagement with youth, families, and volunteers.
- Maintain regular communication with referring agencies regarding participant services and program updates.
- Represent the agency in community youth committees and partnership-building initiatives.
- Communicate with volunteers, youth, and parents regarding program activities, events, and workshops.
- Prepare draft reports and provide input for monthly activity newsletters.
- Develop and sustain relationships with potential volunteer sources and community groups.
- Provide timely, accurate written summaries of all participant and volunteer contacts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Director or Project Director to support goals.
