The General Foreman – Environmental is responsible for overall environmental performance and compliance across the tannery, including Wastewater Treatment, Chrome Recovery, Solid Waste, and Water Resources. This role provides leadership over environmental operations while integrating process production support to ensure safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This position serves as the primary point of contact for environmental compliance and regulatory agencies, ensuring all environmental systems operate within required standards. The role also supports the process area through oversight, chemical control, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:

• Assume full responsibility for environmental performance across all areas, including wastewater treatment, chrome recovery, solid waste, and water resources
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, TCEQ, city agencies)
• Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and support inspections, audits, and reporting
• Establish, monitor, and report environmental KPIs (effluent quality, waste, water usage)
• Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready environmental documentation and records
• Lead internal and external environmental audits and ensure continuous readiness
• Identify environmental non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions

• Oversee daily environmental operations, ensuring stable and compliant system performance
• Monitor sampling, lab results, and environmental systems, ensuring timely response to deviations
• Ensure proper execution of environmental procedures in the field and coordination with production teams

• Submit all required environmental samples and reports to regulatory agencies
• Support production goals while ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability
• Approve or reject process batches based on technical and environmental specifications
• Monitor chemical usage and inventory to minimize waste and control costs
• Evaluate process variables (chemical and physical) and implement improvements
• Participate in R&D initiatives and new process development to improve product quality and efficiency
• Support troubleshooting of process issues and coordinate with maintenance on equipment reliability

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred (10+ years of equivalent experience may substitute)
• Environmental certifications or active enrollment in a related program preferred
• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in environmental and/or process operations
• Experience in tannery or chemical manufacturing strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations (EPA, TCEQ, local agencies)
• Ability to analyze technical data, lab results, and process performance metrics
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Must be a highly effective communicator**
• Must be able to Travel as needed

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
• Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
• 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
• Base salary range of $75,500 to $83,500
• Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s quarterly bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
