Front Desk Receptionist
TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital is a physician-owned inpatient and outpatient surgical facility committed to delivering exceptional care in a patient-focused environment. With 15 inpatient beds and a 24/7 Emergency Room, we offer a range of surgical services, including orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, GI, gynecology, ophthalmology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology. Our mission is to treat every patient and their family as if they were our own—each patient, each family, each and every time.
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and welcoming Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. This individual will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors and play a key role in supporting daily front office operations. The ideal candidate is professional, courteous, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities Include
- Warmly greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in person and over the phone
- Answer multi-line phone systems and route calls or take messages appropriately
- Check in patients, verify insurance, and collect necessary identification and paperwork
- Accurately enter patient information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Collect co-pays and other payments, provide receipts, and reconcile end-of-day reports
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up visits
- Maintain a tidy, welcoming reception and lobby area
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff to support workflow

Required Skills

Required Experience
- Prior front desk or receptionist experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with patient check-in procedures and medical terminology a plus
- Experience working with insurance verification and patient scheduling systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy standards
