HIM Administrative Assistant
Description Provides administrative support to the HIM Department and/or Manager. Duties include Clerical and project based work.
Requirements
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent
- Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective oral and written communication ability. Good sense of organization and the ability to work independently. Microsoft Office Skills.
- Prior Work Experience: One year experience in a medical setting preferred. Experience in a Managerial or Assistant position desired.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require long periods of sitting at a desk performing light physical work, including working at a computer. Visual acuity to prepare and read written material accurately. The ability to comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions.
- 1. Collection of Physician Charge sheets on a timely basis.
- 2. Review medical charts and charges for compliance and reports compliance issues.
- 3. Entering of charges to appropriate accounts on a timely and efficient manner.
- 4. Run reports appropriately to audit admissions for complete capture of charges for each physician.
- 1. Abstraction of Inpatient charts of reporting proper measures using CART by required timelines.
- 2. Accuracy of abstraction data into CART.
- 3. Abstraction of Outpatient charts of reporting proper measures using CART by required timelines.
- 4. Accuracy of abstraction data into CART.
- 5. Data collection, analysis of data, distributes reports of outcomes.
- 6. Research and maintain required updates and information from CMS to keep current with guidelines.
- 1. Reporting of Inpatient Discharges to THCIC by required timelines.
- 2. Correct and submit required elements to comply with regulations.
- 3. Reporting of Outpatient and Emergency Room Discharges to THCIC by required timelines.
- 4. Correct and submit required elements to comply with regulations.
- 5. Data collection, analysis of data, distributes reports of areas of improvement and concern.
- 6. Research and maintain required updates and information from THCIC to keep current with guidelines.
- 1. Assists in reviewing and/or revision of departmental policies and procedures on a concurrent basis. At minimum yearly.
- 2. Reviews and stays current with CMS and State regulations to ensure policies and Procedures of department are maintained in compliance.
- 1. Assists in other Quality Improvement functions as required.
- 2. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- 3. Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Hospital District.
- 4. Interacts with Medical Staff members, co-workers and other department managers on a continuous basis.
- 5. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director.
