Senior Property Accountant (Accounting / Real Estate / Yardi) - Dallas, TX

Seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join a dynamic team in the Real Estate industry. The ideal candidate will help oversee the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, compliance with regulations, and timely reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with property managers, auditors, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
  

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
  

• Perform variance analysis and provide insights on property performance to support budgeting and forecasting.
  

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
  

• Oversee tenant billing, rent collections, and lease administration in coordination with property management teams.
  

• Reconcile balance sheets and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  

• Assist in annual audits, providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
  

• Utilize property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio) to streamline workflows and reporting.
  

• Support special projects, such as property acquisitions, dispositions, or system implementations, as needed.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in property or real estate accounting.
  

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Yardi property management/accounting software.
  

• Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate financial principles.
  

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
  

• Proven leadership experience and the ability to train or guide team members.
  

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  

• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with commercial real estate portfolios in the Dallas market.
  

• Familiarity with Texas property tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  

• Knowledge of cash flow forecasting and capital expenditure tracking.
