Job Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and leaders, delivering comprehensive human resources support across the employee lifecycle. This role independently advises on employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding and offboarding, leave and benefits administration, policy interpretation, compliance, workforce reporting, and organizational initiatives. The HR Generalist applies sound judgment, handles sensitive matters with discretion, identifies trends and risks, and partners with stakeholders to implement practical, consistent solutions that support business objectives and a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to align programs with business goals, change initiatives, and organizational development projects.
  • Support assigned employees and leaders, providing timely guidance on policies, programs, workplace concerns, and employee lifecycle matters.
  • Coach leaders on performance management, corrective action, conflict resolution, documentation, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Conduct or support prompt, objective, and well-documented employee relations reviews and workplace investigations; recommend appropriate actions and escalate significant risk as needed.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies; monitor changes and help update practices and communications.
  • Partner with talent acquisition team and hiring leaders on workforce needs, job descriptions, candidate selection, offers, pre-employment requirements, and hiring documentation.
  • Coordinate and continuously improve onboarding, orientation, internal transfers, promotions, and offboarding to support a consistent employee experience.
  • Administer or support benefits, leaves of absence, accommodations, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes in partnership with internal specialists and external vendors.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records and HRIS data; process personnel changes and support audits, reporting, and data integrity reviews.
  • Support performance review, compensation, talent planning, succession, engagement, and employee development cycles.
  • Analyze workforce metrics and recurring employee issues to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; provide actionable insights and recommendations to HR and business leaders.
  • Develop and deliver HR communications, manager resources, presentations, and training on policies, processes, and people-management practices.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, system implementations, and change-management initiatives.
  • Build effective partnerships across the organization while maintaining professionalism, neutrality, confidentiality, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Broad working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, HR operations, and employment compliance.
  • Ability to interpret policies and employment requirements, assess risk, and provide practical, consistent guidance to employees and leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive employee matters and conduct fact-based workplace investigations with discretion, neutrality, and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with HR information systems, case management or applicant tracking systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong data literacy, including the ability to validate HR data, identify trends, prepare reports, and translate findings into recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive human resources experience supporting multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, and HR operations.
  • Demonstrated experience advising leaders, resolving complex employee matters, and independently managing competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Preferred

  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Experience supporting employees and leaders across multiple locations, business units, or states.
  • Experience with HR analytics, HRIS implementations, policy development, organizational change, or project leadership.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Location

  • This position is based out of the BKV Office in Houston or Fort Worth, Texas. May be eligible for hybrid work based on business needs.
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for meetings, training, employee support, or company events.

  • Primarily office-based with standard business hours; extended hours may be required depending on business needs. May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others.

  • Ability to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
