Sections Accounting Manager

: General Description: Serves as financial liaison to 47 State Bar Sections. Completes financial transactions and produces monthly financials for 42 State Bar Sections. Responsible for supervising Sections Accountant. Primary Functions:

• Provides Section accounting management services to 42 State Bar Sections with the assistance of the Sections Accountant. Services include: payments to Section vendors; receipt, deposit and recording of Section revenues; preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements; support for budget Assists with calculating and paying sales tax.
• Prepares and distributes the annual budget packets for the Sections. Serves as point of contact for budget-related questions. Receives, reviews and imports the approved budgets.
• Reviews variance reports monthly.
• Reviews over 60 monthly bank statement reconciliations and investment accounts for 47 Sections.
• Produces quarterly financial reports for 5 non-accounting management Sections; including variance and discrepancy research.
• Assists Section treasurers as liaison with State Bar bank depository; including coordination of annual signature card updates and other account changes.
• Reviews and distributes invoices and statements to all Sections for payments made on their behalf by the State Bar, and follows up on collections as needed.
• Coordinates and distributes quarterly Section dues and royalty payments.
• Provides audit work papers and audit-ready financial reports annually for 47 Sections.
• Supervises Accountant in work assignments relating to 47 State Bar Sections, including invoicing and bank statement reconciliations.
• Presents financial-related topics at up to four meetings with Section members.
• Prepares procedures and user guides to assist Section Treasurers with their duties.
• Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements: BBA in accounting or 5 years of experience in various areas of accounting including financial reporting or accounts payable required. Two years of customer service experience required. Must be able to manage multiple projects and coordinate staff simultaneously and while meeting deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Extensive knowledge of Excel required. Experience using Great Plains accounting software or other accounting software desired. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of remote work and in office at the discretion of employer.
