The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas' Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center.

When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW's first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

Works under minimal supervision to perform journey-level operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery in central plant environment.

Required:

  • Education High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience 5 years of journey level experience in operation and maintenance in central utilities plant environment. May consider additional related education in lieu of experience (each year completed from a related plant operator higher education training program may be substituted for a year of required experience; this includes related vocational or trade school).

Preferred:

  • Experience Completion of certified operator program and experience in university physical plant environment.
  • Licenses and Certifications Completion of certified operator program and experience in university physical plant environment. Upon Hire

Job Duties

  • Starts up, shuts down, and adjusts power plant and/or chilling station equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
  • Monitors equipment and maintains records of operating status. Operates control computer systems.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes problems based on equipment operation records. Initiates process changes and implements solutions.
  • Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment for proper operation.
  • Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies and takes action.
  • Initiates and completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems. Identifies and reports safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
  • Supervises support staff as needed. Attends meetings and training courses. Trains new personnel as required.
  • May perform preventative or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to operation of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Covers shifts other than their shift during planned and unplanned absences in their assigned Plant or other plants where they have been cross-trained including day and night shifts.
  • Prepares and implements cost effective Operations Schedule and major equipment maintenance schedules.
  • May be assigned to supervise projects and other maintenance activities. Communicates with vendors and contractors regarding projects and maintenance activities.
  • In charge with the Plant's housekeeping and security. In charge of record keeping in the plant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
