• Floating: May float to Inpatient Rehab, ED, or PCU as needed (within scope)

Job Requirements

• Active RN license in Texas or compact RN license accepted
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience (clinical experience as a Medical Surgical Nurse)
• Telemetry experience required — cardiac rhythm recognition preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Competent with IV therapy and preferred IV starts
• Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and float between units as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to Med/Surg patients with typical 5:1 or 6:1 patient ratios
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and interpretation; respond to cardiac rhythm changes
• Use and manage Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, and capnography devices
• Deliver post-operative and acute care for procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colectomy, paracentesis, thoracentesis, heart caths, orthopedic trauma repairs, and joint replacements
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Alterra (Allscripts) EMR system
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members: RNs, LVNs, PCTs, charge nurses, physicians, and therapists
• Assist with patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, discharge planning, and patient education
• Float to Rehab, ED, or PCU as assigned while maintaining a positive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude
