The Development Coordinator of Donor Relations is responsible for fostering long- term engagement and investment with donors. This position involves duties such as acting as an Assistant to the Development Director, managing data, and organizing special events. Aimed at ensuring an exceptional donor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors through strategic engagement and personalized stewardship efforts that foster sustained philanthropic support.
- Develop and execute personalized donor outreach including sympathy acknowledgments, milestone recognition, and mission-driven updates to reinforce connection and goodwill.
- Compose compelling donor communications such as acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and annual appeals that reflect Sunshine Cottage’s voice and values.
- Manage and refine recurring, giving initiatives ensuring operational efficiency proactive donor recognition and continued growth in sustained contributions.
- Monitor and analyze donor activity within the CRM system to drive data informed stewardship strategies and ensure timely personalized engagement.
- Lead high impact mission centered tours of Sunshine Cottage that effectively communicate the organization’s impact to donors, community leaders, and prospective partners.
- Strategically plan execute and evaluate fundraising and stewardship events to enhance donor engagement and advance development objectives.
- Collaborate with Communications Finance and Program teams to ensure event messaging and materials align with organizational priorities and brand standards.
- Contribute to the organization’s digital presence by supporting the creation of targeted social media content that highlights events and donor stories.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of digital assets including landing pages payment systems and promotional content to optimize event participation and donor experience.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Experienced in social media management, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), and website content management systems (CMS).
- Skilled in analyzing marketing and engagement metrics and using CRM systems for donor and stakeholder outreach (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to gather information, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging and strong public speaking/presentation abilities for media, events, and community outreach.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Creative problem-solving, storytelling, and engagement strategies to enhance visibility.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects with adaptability in handling PR challenges.
- High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field required. Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in event coordination, donor management, process development, cross-department collaboration, and team leadership, with a proven ability to manage and execute strategic initiatives. Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
Experience:
Experience in office and administrative management, highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, experience with Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, and Raiser’s Edge NXT, and proficient with database management and data entry.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear and have good vision. The Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel off-site which may require driving, transport and set up materials.
