Senior Tomcat Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Tomcat Engineer for a Contract with a client in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate brings essential expertise in Apache Tomcat administration while deploying applications on Red Hat OpenShift and managing DNS, load balancer, and environment configuration activities.

Rate Range: $49/hour to $53/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Senior Tomcat Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Manage and maintain large‑scale Apache Tomcat environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and production support across Linux platforms.

• Deploy and troubleshoot Tomcat applications within Red Hat OpenShift, ensuring reliability, performance, and seamless integration with supporting infrastructure.

• Create and manage DNS URLs, CNAME records, and coordinate load balancer (LB) requests with network teams for new and existing environments.

• Utilize Chef JSON configurations and Autosys jobs to automate server reboot schedules and routine maintenance tasks.

• Perform security‑focused tasks including Y8 certificate creation for DB2, break‑glass validations, and proactive vulnerability mitigation activities.

• Collaborate with DevOps, network, and database teams to resolve complex middleware issues and support smooth go‑live operations in 24/7 rotational coverage environments.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• 8–10 years of experience working with middleware platforms and enterprise Tomcat environments.

• Strong client‑required expertise in Tomcat build, configuration, and support activities across Linux‑based infrastructures.

• Proven hands‑on experience deploying Tomcat applications on Red Hat OpenShift and managing DNS, load balancer, and automation workflows.

Pay Details: $49.00 to $53.00 per hour
