Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney

Pay: $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Location: This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Houston, Texas.

Note: Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar and should have 5+ years of commercial litigation experience. This role is geared toward attorneys with strong legal writing skills, deposition experience, and trial experience. Personal injury experience is not the target background for this position.

Job Description

• Handle complex commercial litigation matters involving breach of contract, corporate governance, intellectual property disputes, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and antitrust matters
• Represent clients in depositions, court hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings
• Serve as lead counsel in smaller arbitrations and trials and as second chair or co-lead in larger matters
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy, client counseling, and litigation objectives
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation-related filings with a high level of precision and quality
• Advise corporate clients on litigation risk, dispute resolution, compliance, and strategic legal decisions
• Participate in settlement negotiations and work toward favorable outcomes where appropriate
• Collaborate with attorneys, staff, clients, experts, and consultants to develop and execute litigation strategy
• Oversee case management from discovery and pre-trial motions through trial and post-trial proceedings
• Maintain accurate billing records, track billable time, and support timely client invoicing
• Help lead matters effectively and contribute to a strong litigation team environment

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active Texas Bar membership in good standing
• 5+ years of commercial litigation experience
• Strong legal writing skills
• Significant experience taking depositions
• Trial experience, including experience with evidentiary and legal arguments and direct- and cross-examination
• Strong in-court advocacy at hearings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage complex legal issues with professionalism and precision
• High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency with legal research tools and litigation software
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with trial preparation and managing high-stakes litigation
• Ability to lead and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff preferred
