Sewing Operator

Summary/Objective:

The role of the Sewing Operator will operate and tend sewing machines to perform sewing operations. This includes joining and reinforcing of materials. Sewing machine operators handle work on a large scale as they are required to operate and tend to industrial machineries. Must meet hourly production goals, adhere to established safety and efficiency standards.

Essential Functions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set and adjust machine controls and test for proper functionality before completing sewing projects.
• Follow order guidelines to complete sewing projects.
• Sew missing stiches/replacement parts according to repair instructions.
• Ensure finished product meets design, merchandising and quality standards.
• Reload machines with products.
• Sort, fold and stack materials.
• Meet production standards for completion of all assignments.
• Address any problems to ensure quality control including preventative maintenance per instructions and guidelines; reports defective materials and equipment.
• Utilize personal protective equipment and continuously adheres to safety guidelines.
• Participate in cross training opportunities to maximize operation effectiveness.

Work Environment:

Well-lit manufacturing shop environment generally exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold), dust, odors, fumes. Noise level is moderate to loud.

Physical Demands:

Frequently required to lift 10 - 50lbs, sit for long periods of time, perform detailed and repetitious work using hand and eye coordination; use close vision skills

Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full Time 40/hr.

Travel: No travel required.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED highly preferred.
• 1 -2 years’ experience in similar role.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read instructions, understand and meet all guidelines.
• Good communication skills.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable):

The employee will generally be housed in a non-climate controlled, well-lit environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
