Position Summary
Spire is currently seeking a Senior Consultant. This individual would be responsible for assisting owners, contractors, and subcontractors across numerous sectors within the AEC industry, on both proactive and forensic consulting projects related to project controls (time, cost, and risk). Assist with the completion of client engagements and internal projects. Promote Spire’s company values and work to achieve the company’s core purpose.
Responsibilities
- Manage, review, and analyze project documents.
- Evaluate project planning, cost management, and schedule development.
- Perform legal and industry standards research.
- Perform various technical analyses, including changed work, schedule delay, acceleration, productivity loss, standard of care, and quantification of damages.
- Facilitate the creation of demonstrative aids to assist with conveying findings to key stakeholders.
- Validate accurate compilation of data from junior team members.
- Support the engagement team with drafting preliminary findings in preparation for client meetings and/or deliverables for expert witness use during mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Provide project progress updates to the engagement lead or manager.
- Motivates and supports junior team members by identifying technical tasks, guiding execution, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Ensure consistent application of QA/QC guidelines by junior team members (consistency, formatting, fact-checking reports).
- Assist with the development of the proposed scope of work, budgeted hours, resource allocation, and work plans as needed.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality deliverables. Leads client and internal conversations with confidence, communicating information clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent, high-quality interactions and reliable delivery of work products.
- Coaches, mentors, and empowers team members to grow their skills, take ownership of their work, and contribute to project success.
- Guides team members on technical aspects of project work and delegates specific technical tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion in alignment with project goals.
- Builds strong relationships with peers and cross-functional teams to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Promotes and maintains a positive team culture and healthy morale throughout project engagements.
- Participate in internal business strategy review meetings to support firm-wide initiatives and operational planning.
- Operate as a self-starter with the ability to work independently and remain productive during periods of limited supervision.

Administrative
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of company standards, procedures, and processes by providing thoughtful feedback and suggestions.
- Participate in firmwide business strategy meetings to support long-term planning and organizational growth.
- Assist in the talent acquisition process by participating in candidate interviews and providing input on hiring decisions.
- Provide timely and constructive performance feedback on project team members to the engagement lead or manager.
- Actively engage in local professional associations (e.g., AACEI, SWE, USGBC), including serving in leadership roles where possible.
- Advance professional development through the authorship of technical papers and participation in speaking engagements or industry events.
Business Development / Marketing
- Support the development of prospective client presentations and represent the firm at industry events and networking functions.
- Attend introductory client meetings and assist with hosting business development sessions, such as Lunch and Learns.
Education/Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree accepted with relevant project experience.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of engineering, construction, or related experience preferred.
• Prior experience in construction dispute resolution consulting is required.
• Strong background in construction scheduling and cost estimating is highly preferred.
Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experienced with industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, RSMeans, Microsoft Visio, and Sage.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools and project management systems.
