Registered Nurse S.A.N.E Program, PRN Days

Position Summary

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Provides timely medical/forensic examination of the sexual assault/forensic patient under the authorization of a law enforcement agency, Child Protective Services or by patient request. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Minimum Position Requirements

Work Experience:

• Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Trauma, Emergency Department, OB/GYN or other pediatric related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

License/Registration/Certification:

• Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Certification as a Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner from the Texas’s Attorney General Office.

Education and Training:

• Associate’s degree of in Nursing required. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Meets unit-specific and Office of Attorney General (OAG) education requirements.

Skills:

• Must have training in SDFI camera and equipment.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of OAG Crime Victims Compensation program.
• Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
• Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
• Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
