Compensation : $60,000 - $75,000 / year
Bohden Contracting Group is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth through new business development, client relationship management, and strategic pursuit execution. This role owns the full business development lifecycle, from prospecting and outreach through proposal support and contract award.
The Business Development Manager will build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities, develop trusted relationships with clients and industry partners, and help secure high-value projects aligned with company strategy. Success in this role requires ownership, urgency, strong sales discipline, and the ability to consistently move opportunities forward.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within key industries and markets.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects aligned with company growth objectives.
- Execute outreach strategies, including networking, referrals, cold outreach, and relationship development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, existing clients, industry partners, and decision-makers.
- Establish trust and credibility through consistent communication and value-driven engagement.
- Develop long-term client partnerships that support repeat business and referrals.
- Lead the sales process from initial contact through contract award.
- Qualify opportunities and move them through the pipeline efficiently.
- Coordinate internal resources to support pursuit strategy, client engagement, and proposal development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date pipeline activity within CRM systems.
- Lead or support the development of proposals, presentations, and qualification packages.
- Collaborate with estimating, operations, and leadership teams to align scope, pricing, and delivery approach.
- Ensure proposals clearly communicate company value, differentiation, and alignment with client needs.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
- Identify high-value opportunities and prioritize strategic pursuits.
- Provide insight to support go/no-go decisions and business growth strategy.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Strengthen brand visibility and positioning within target markets.
- Partner with leadership, estimating, project management, and operations teams to ensure alignment between sales efforts and execution capabilities.
- Support smooth handoff of awarded projects to Project Managers.
- Track pipeline activity, conversion rates, sales performance metrics, and deal quality.
- Analyze business development results to improve outreach strategies, win rates, and overall sales effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support business needs and organizational priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or a related client-facing revenue role.
- Proven track record of generating, developing, and closing new business opportunities.
- Strong business development, sales, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to identify, qualify, and close high-value opportunities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and client engagement skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Strategic thinking, market awareness, and ability to prioritize opportunities effectively.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
- Ability to manage pipeline activity, sales metrics, and opportunity follow-up with discipline and accuracy.
- Professional presence in both in-person and virtual business settings.
- Experience in construction, general contracting, commercial construction, or a related industry.
- Existing network within the Dallas/Fort Worth construction, development, facilities, or commercial real estate market.
- Experience supporting proposal, presentation, or qualification package development.
- Experience working cross-functionally with estimating, operations, project management, and executive leadership teams.
- Familiarity with strategic pursuit planning, market intelligence, and go/no-go decision support.
- Work may take place in office settings, client locations, project-related environments, and networking/event venues.
- Travel is required for client meetings, industry events, trade shows, and business development activities.
- Must be able to sit, stand, present, and communicate for extended periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, including presentation materials, event materials, or related equipment.
- Must maintain a professional presence in both in-person and virtual settings.
