CNC Machinist

Immediately hiring a CNC Machinist for a large manufacturing company on San Antonio (north side and southside locations).

Job Details:

• Pay is $17-$23/hr. based on experience.
• 1st shift M-F 7am-4pm (northside location).
• 2nd shift Mon-Fri 2pm-10:30pm - last 2 Saturdays of month are mandatory (southside location).

Duties:

• Run and set up general purpose machines (Milling, Drilling and grinding), special purpose machines and CNC machines (VMC, HMC, Turning centers, CNC surface grinding machines) etc.
• Perform cell startup and shutdown procedures for CNC/robotic work cells.
• Clear faults and reset robots after alarms or cycle interruptions.
• Coordinate with automation technicians when robotics need calibration, troubleshooting, or repairs.
• Management of production activities and achieving production targets with required capabilities, yield and lead time.
• Troubleshoot problems arising in routine work of secondary processes.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T callouts.
• Measure finished components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, optical comparators, or laser inspection tools.
• Perform in-process inspections and adjust feeds, speeds, offsets, and tool paths to maintain tolerance.
• Document inspection results following plant quality standards (ISO, AS9100, TS16949, etc.).
• Maintain part traceability through barcoding, labeling, and digital tracking systems.
• Monitor cycle times and recommend improvements to increase throughput.
• Department planning and coordination of schedules across key areas like Sintering, ISP and machine shop engineering and quality.
• Implementation of SPC in critical areas to improve and sustain process capabilities policies on the shop floor.
• Knowledge in SPC, TPM, and poke yoke, kaizen, lean manufacturing, jigs and fixtures and gauges design, GD&T etc.
• Planning for New product development process and planning, Selection of machines, Tools, Fixtures, and Inspection methods.
• Familiar with use of automated vision systems and optical metrology equipment for dimensional inspection of small, machined parts.
• Ensures & maintains all documents related to quality systems as per TS 16949 and ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.

Qualifications:

• Must be a Machinist and have at least 1-3 yrs. of CNC Machinist experience in a manufacturing shop.
• Associate's degree or certificate in CNC or relevant experience of 1-3 years preferred.
• Must have experience working with general purpose machine (Milling, Drilling and Grinding), special purpose machine and CNC machines.
• Process knowledge of Hydro pneumatic presses and manual coining/tweaking.
• Knowledge in manual CNC programming and 2D and 3D program generation using Mastercam.
• Experience with small machine parts (up to 150 grams).
• 5S and Kaizen Principles for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
