PCU RN Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA 23298 (Virginia healthcare job)
- Facility: Level 1 Trauma, Comprehensive Medicine Unit
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Required (every other weekend)
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Unit Census: 30 patients daily, 32 beds
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2020 - $2070
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (30-day work authorization accepted with timely licensure)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or acute care RN experience
- BLS certification required
- Epic EMR charting experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Previous charge nurse and Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Competency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Proficient with specialized equipment: lift equipment, chest PT machine, bladder scanner, vein finder, Sonosite for ultrasound IV placement
- Two professional nursing references required
- Provide high-quality patient care to adults and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including telemetry and dysrhythmias
- Assist with and perform special procedures such as paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
- Document patient care using Epic EMR system
- Participate in self-scheduling and ensure weekend/holiday coverage
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, including natural nail policy and fingerprinting for ER/Psych candidates
