Finance Controller (Hospitality)

Summary

The Finance Controller is responsible for internal financial reporting of Harwood Hospitality & Hotel Swexan, including preparing and processing activity for monthly financial statements, and providing daily supervision to a current staff of three accountants/accounting specialists. They are responsible for evaluating Harwood Hospitality and Hotel Swexan's financial operating reports and its related entities. They ensure Harwood Hospitality and Hotel Swexan's financial and operating reporting goals and objectives are met in a high quality and timely manner.

Job Functions

• Manage accounting processes to ensure optimal results with appropriate internal control safeguards
• Coordinate workflow to utilize staff efficiently while streamlining processes
• Oversee Accounting group to include A/P, A/R, intercompany accounting, job cost/TI accounting, cash management, check-writing software, and processing
• Review and prepare all financial statements
• Review daily cash position
• Prepare weekly check selection based on cash forecast and payment urgency for weekly cash meeting
• Create appropriate financial and operating reports and analysis to identify efficiency and profitability enhancement opportunities and effectively communicate results of operations
• Prepare annual department and venue budgets, and/or quarterly forecasts, as applicable
• Review and serve as payroll back-up
• Coordinate all year-end financial data for audits/tax return preparation
• Provide direction for the accounting functions of the organization

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting with a strong emphasis on analysis and reconciliation
• Five years Big 4 / Public Accounting firm or comparable experience
• Minimum 10 years working in Accounting within Hospitality with a preferred group focus on Hotels and Restaurants
• Works effectively in a team environment through collaboration and partnership
• Ability to meet and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of internal control processes
• Experience with MRI & NetSuite Software
