THE POSITION

We have been retained to identify a Tank Build Installer / Project Installer for a growing industrial solutions provider expanding its U.S. workshop and installation capabilities. The ideal candidate will be a highly dependable, hands-on technician with strong mechanical aptitude, disciplined execution, and pride in workmanship.

This role is critical to the company’s ability to deliver high-quality tank systems and installations consistently and safely. The Tank Build Installer will operate as a trusted technical contributor, with the potential to operate as a senior technical reference within the workshop, balancing workshop-based builds with field installation support, while working closely with workshop leadership to ensure projects are completed to standard, on time, and with minimal rework.

This position is well-suited for a practical, self-directed professional who values structure, accountability, and long-term growth within a developing technical organization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Tank Build & Workshop Assembly: Assembling and fitting out industrial tank systems in a Houston-based workshop, including pumps, pipework, valves, fittings, and associated mechanical components, ensuring builds are completed to specification and quality standards.
  • Mechanical Installation & Fit-Out: Executing mechanical installations, modifications, and repairs both in the workshop and at customer sites, including mounting systems, skids, and supports, with a strong focus on accuracy and durability.
  • Project Installation Support: Supporting on-site installations, commissioning, modifications, and decommissioning activities, executing work safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project scope and timelines.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnosing mechanical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing practical, effective solutions to minimize downtime and rework.
  • Coordination & Communication: Working closely with workshop management to coordinate materials, tools, and job sequencing, proactively communicating challenges and recommendations as they arise.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhering to OSHA and site-specific safety requirements, ensuring safe work practices at all times, and maintaining proper use and care of tools and safety equipment.
  • Documentation & Standards: Maintaining accurate job documentation, including timesheets, job notes, and basic material tracking, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with internal standards and applicable codes.
  • Professional Representation: Representing the organization professionally in both workshop and field environments, interacting respectfully with contractors, site personnel, and internal stakeholders.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Technical Background: Hands-on experience in mechanical installation, industrial equipment assembly, or related technical trades (e.g., mechanical fitter, technician, plumber, electrician, or similar).
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong familiarity with pumps, pipework, valves, and mechanical systems; experience in fuel systems or regulated environments is advantageous but not required.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated troubleshooting and fault-finding capability, with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Reliability & Discipline: A proven record of accomplishment of showing up consistently, following through on commitments, and maintaining high standards of execution.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and professional communicator who raises issues early and works collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Autonomy & Accountability: Comfortable working independently without close supervision, while remaining accountable to deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Growth Mindset: Interest in long-term development, with the potential to grow into a senior technician or workshop leadership role as the operation expands.
  • Mobility: Valid driver’s license and willingness to support out-of-town installations as required. Comfortable operating in a structured environment with clear expectations around safety, documentation, and accountability.
