Job Title: Development & Marketing Director Department: Administration Prepared by: Human Resources Reports To: Executive Director/CEO Date Prepared: November 2025 FLSA Status: Exempt Approved by: Executive Director Compensation: $95,000 to $110,000/ annual Summary: Work in conjunction with Executive Director on all aspects of development to help grow, secure and sustain fundraising efforts, as well as support strategic direction to help increase individual, corporate and foundation giving. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position shall include, but are not limited to the following: - Serve as lead staff for Development efforts including coordination of a Major Gifts Committee and Planned Giving efforts
- Analyze donors giving patterns and build a retention/recognition program
- Develop effective relationships with existing and prospective individual and corporate donors.
- Explore new corporate and community partnerships for increased fundraising opportunities and revenue.
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, review potential funding opportunities that may include foundation and other grants.
- Arrange for major donors and those with large spheres of influence to meet with the Executive Director and other appropriate staff.
- Assist the Executive Director in working with outside counsel for the implementation of a capital campaign.
- Blue Dress Breakfast annual fundraising event, oversee the fundraising efforts for this annual event and help develop a second annual event.
- Work to increase our donor base.
- Help generate marketing materials that help to promote the SVdP mission and fundraising efforts.
- Work with ED and Grant Writer with opportunities that help raise dollars for SVdP
- Helps maintain our Charity Navigator status and our Donor CM Database (we currently use Donor Perfect)
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Master's degree preferred or Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of fundraising or related experience focused on major gifts and launching a capital campaign. Skilled in strategic thinking, networking, volunteer management and planning as well as budgeting. A successful track record in executing on strategy, setting priorities, developing relationships, and working effectively under pressure to achieve organizational goals. It is highly desirable that experience includes working in a not for profit environment. Language Ability Ability to analyze, and understand general business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, safety manuals, and regulations. Must have the ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse and varied audiences, including board of director members, managers, and service providers. Math Ability The individual in this position must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to understand common financial reports, payroll records, and cash management reports. Reasoning Ability The ability to solve practical problems quickly and in situations where there is limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software is required i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with client-based software and email communications will be essential to regular communications and reporting. Certificates and Licenses None needed Supervisory Responsibilities The individual in this position will supervise the Development Department and Capital Campaign staff.
