Electrical Technician II - Battery
TRAVEL POSITION: 50-75% travel
Join a team dedicated to supporting critical infrastructure as a Critical Systems Technician II, Battery, based in Dallas, TX. This role is essential in ensuring the reliability and performance of battery systems that support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for a variety of clients. The position offers hands-on experience with battery installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and provides opportunities to learn and grow within a collaborative environment. With approximately 75% travel, this role is ideal for those who enjoy working in dynamic settings and are committed to upholding high standards of safety and service.Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems at client sites.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external customers to deliver high-quality service.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
- Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
- Learn and apply procedures for disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing batteries in critical environments.
- Enter test readings and maintenance data into reporting systems using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Support warehouse operations when required.
- Travel approximately 75% of the time to various client locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of, or willingness to learn, AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
- Familiarity with, or ability to learn, the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, battery string connections (series, parallel, series-parallel).
- Ability to follow safety procedures, including the use of isolation devices and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
